Ashley Eley Cannady was born in Pacagoula, Mississippi in 1978. She graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in English. Ms. Cannady also graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where she was an Eastland scholar. While in law school, Ms. Cannady received the American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts I, Contracts II, Civil Procedure II, Mississippi Civil Practice, and International Law. She was a member of the Mississippi Law Journal and served as its Symposium Editor. In addition, Ms. Cannady was a member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Ms. Cannady is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and Mississippi Women Lawyers Association. She is admitted to practice before all Mississippi State Courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Mississippi, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

During her career, Ms. Cannady has successfully litigated numerous cases in Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Florida. Some of her reported decisions are:

-Claiborne County v. Parker, 26 So. 3d 1078 (Miss. Ct. App. 2009);
-Parker v. Claiborne County, 2009 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 1507 (S.D. Miss. 2009).

Ms. Cannady’s practice focuses on employment law and general litigation. She holds an “AV” rating from Martindale and is recognized as a Rising Star by SuperLawyers for 2010 and 2011.
